Inspirations for Life! REBEL! That’s me!

Need inspiration? You got it!

By Deb Powell

This is the second article of a series in the new UTA magazine, and is for those who want or need inspiration.

REBEL: Pronounce it however you like. I’m a rebel, and I will rebel! I realized while contemplating life this morning that I’ve always been a rebel. Being sexually abused for years as a child/teen caused my attitude to be: “no one will ever push me around again”. It changed my life, made me strong, tough, and, sometimes got me into trouble, but this was what gave me strength to protect myself, and stand up for what I believed in.

I had always believed in a higher power, so I put this strength together with my faith and applied it to my health because it just made sense. Then I added a mostly raw, vegan diet. Don’t you think that’s how we ate in the beginning? I am rebelling against all the man-made, traditional, processed, and toxic foods, because let’s be honest, they really are harming us. I also love nature. I’m talking the basics: Fresh air, sunshine, clean lakes and rivers, lots of delicious fresh fruits and vegetables, time spent walking, hiking, swimming, playing, laughing, sharing… We need to rid some of the man-made things we’ve created that are promoted to us as progress… They’re not.

With so much going on these days we need to be rebellious. Our lives depend on it. Don’t be rebellious for the sake of rebelling, but to stand up for yourself, for goodness, truth, safety, health, loved ones, dreams... Stand strong and pull together, there is strength in numbers.

If you don’t have anything to stand up for, you should. If nothing else, stand up for yourself. You are worthy, and you have value. Then, find a good cause and help support it. There are lots of people and causes that need you. We could change the world if we’d do more for others. So like this tree, no matter what, be strong and you will overcome.

Be a rebel for good things, and rebel! Join me next month for more inspiration!
